Eleanor Phillips is a multi-disciplinary visual artist. Primarily concerned with social evolution, she wades through themes of consumerism, grief, community, sometimes birthing new gods from old myths.
She is a founding member of Signal Arts Centre CLG in Bray Co. Wicklow currently serving as part-time Development Director. Together with Emma Finucane & Rachel Fallon she is a co-creator of …pff publications which irregularly publishes the irreverent and rude PIMP, a feminist zine.
Projects include the Northsider’s Museum, a 3 year project engaging with shoppers of the Northside Shopping Centre; Bureau of Enquiry, a residency working with homeless men in St. Louis, Missouri; and Withholding Blood, a make, chat and research project with older women, supported by Mermaid Arts Centre, Dun Laoghaire Arts Office and the KWETB.
She has been commissioned and supported by Arts Council Ireland; CREATE; Wicklow County Council; Craigavon County Council, Northern Ireland; PEACE III Arts and Diversity Fund, Northern Ireland; Regional Arts Council St. Louis, USA; and City Council Celje, Slovenia. Her work is held in private and public collections including Wicklow County Council, Craigavon County Council and John Erickson Museum, Florida.
